Overview
Your pockets are full of coins, and you are ready to outplay your rivals in this fierce game of trick-taking and collect all the cool figurines!
《Gachapon Trick》 is a 2-4 player trick-taking + collecting game. Win gachapon and collect toys; the more complete your toy sets, the higher your score.
Game Components
· 50 cards: 1 Refund Card, 49 Toy Cards (7 colors, ¥2oo - ¥8oo)
· Assorted coins
Gameplay
The game is played over 3 rounds. At the start of a round, shuffle the 49 Toy Cards and deal 10 to each player (12 each in a 3-player game).
Shuffle the remaining Toy Cards with the Refund Card and place them face down as a draw pile.
Each player receives ¥50oo (¥80oo in a 2-player game).
Tricks
The lead player plays one card from their hand, and the other players take turns clockwise playing one card of the same suit (following suit). If they cannot follow suit, they may play any other suit. Later players must still play a suit that has already been played if possible.
After all players have played 1 card, the trick is resolved: the player who played the highest-ranked card among the most frequent suit wins the trick. If multiple suits appear equally often, the one with the higher-ranked card among them wins the trick; if still tied, the later-played card wins.
The trick winner must buy at least one card from that trick and place it face-up in front of them. Additionally, once per trick, they may spend ¥5oo to buy the top card of the draw pile. Then, the trick winner becomes the lead player for the next trick.
Note: If a player cannot afford to buy any cards after winning a trick, they cannot win the trick; ignore this player and re-resolve the trick winner.
At the end of a trick, a player whose total money is ¥0 or ¥1oo is eliminated due to bankruptcy, must discard all their cards, and does not participate in tricks for the rest of the round. However, this does not mean you are out of the game; you can still win overall. If the eliminated player is also the lead for the next trick, the lead passes clockwise.
If only one player remains and all others have been eliminated, the surviving player may freely purchase any remaining cards in hand and may also buy one draw pile card.
If a player receives the Refund Card when buying from the top of the draw pile, they keep it until the end of the round. The Refund Card allows the player to discard one Toy Card and receive its value as a refund. An unused Refund Card has no value.
End of Round
After completing 10 tricks in a round (12 in a 3-player game) and all players' hands are empty, each player scores based on the toys they purchased:
· Separate cards by toy illustration (not by color or value). For each toy you have, you score the square of the number of identical toys you own.
| Number of that toy | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Points | 1 | 4 | 9 | 16 | 25 | 36 | 49 |
Every remaining ¥2oo is worth 1 point. If a player spent no money for the entire round, they resisted the temptation of gachapon and earn 5 bonus points.
After recording scores, reset all players' money to ¥50oo and begin a new round.
End of Game
After 3 rounds, the game ends. The player with the highest score wins. If tied, the tied player with more remaining money wins.
2-Player Variant
Each player draws 10 cards and also receives 10 more cards as a personal draw pile. Each player starts with ¥80oo. Players take turns playing cards until each player has played 2 cards, forming one trick. After each trick, each player draws 2 cards from their personal pile.
Players alternate as the starting player.
