Probably this happens with other special characters and for other languages.

However, when you pass the mouse over the cards, the hovering text is displayed correctly, special characters included.

Bug of the font itself.
Please use BGA basic font from the player preference or change the translation accordingly.

The translation cannot be changed while keeping proper grammar and I will not translate texts incorrectly in such a way. I think that would be going in the wrong direction.

This was the first time I've seen this effect and only on this particular card (the hovering texts work fine). It makes sense that it's caused by the font type used to display the text and I hope the developer reads this and configures a different font type (one that works correctly in other languages other than English).

No, I won't change the font type (since they are the original fonts used in the physical game).
If you want to keep the translation use BGA default font instead from game preference options.
