This happened twice in same game. First time I thought I miss-clicked, but I looked more closely the 2nd time and noticed there wasn't a skip action button.

I thought this happened to me in a game, but I wasn't sure and like you, figured I mis-clicked something because it worked my next turn. I just went back and looked at the game (table 187423782, moves 109-111) and I think I've figured it out. After taking my role, the game says "You may discard some cards from your hand, if you do your turn will end." So apparently, to get you action after your role you HAVE to choose "Wait" instead of "Discard'.

This is not a very intuitive change. You should be able to discard the cards you don't want and just keep the card whose action you want to use and still take your action after your opponent follows or dissents.

This issue seems to have expanded. After I took my survey role at move 177 on table boardgamearena.com/8/eminentdomain?table=195159319, I was not even given an option to wait or discard and my opponent got to immediately take their action after they followed my role. Given that I was going to War Path with my action, that was a MAJOR swing in the game. Props to my opponent for agreeing to abandon the game, even though he was likely going to win even if I hadn't lost that action so late in the game.

Agree that now that I am looking out for it, it only seems to happen on survey. Has anyone noticed whether their opponent(s) followed the role when it skipped the action? On my last two turns at table 205527571, my action got skipped and I noticed that my opponent followed and discarded. I am wondering if that plays into it, since we know already that the action was getting skipped when you discard. Players should not be getting the option to discard when the follow a role; it should only happen at the end of their own turn.

I believe this issue is definitely linked to the other bug about offering players who are dissenting/following a role the option to discard. (boardgamearena.com/bug?id=49690)

As I also described in that bug report, this happened on a survey role at table 205990734. At move 143 I played survey and selected a planet on move 144. My opponent followed for move 145 and selected a planet for move 146. While the game log does not indicate that it happened, my opponent was erroneously offered the option to discard cards. Move 147 instead simply indicates that I had too many cards in my hand (but didn't make me do anything about it) and then moved on to my opponents turn. It should have instead come back to me to play my action phase per Logistics.

So I believe that the discarding bug is tricking the game into thinking the active player's turn is over instead of going back for the action phase.

Appeared on turnbased table 209925199, annoyingly changing the result of the game as made it impossible to warfare a planet in last action of the game, which would change the winner ;)

My partners thought: Im reasonably sure it's well oiled plan causing the problem, because it did ask me if I wanted to discard after I followed, and it was even offering me using well oiled plan. And the log shows you skipping an action after your role.*

I didn't have a prompt on action (nor what to discard!), after she followed my Survey role. The game just ended after her follow.
*Although. When I checked the finished game, 30min after it finished, 'See final game situation' shows in log following statements: (reading from down)

I had 2 more actions and another double time in my hand, enough to get another battle cruiser and steal another planet. Used Logistics option "Play Role First", lost 2 actions.

It's not an ideal solution, but there does seem to be a way to stop the issue from happening, though it requires cooperation from the other players. As has been indicated earlier, the issue pops up whenever the other players are offered the option to discard cards when following/dissenting a role (typically survey). If the other player hits "Wait" instead of "Discard" (even if no cards are chosen), then the game will return to the player with Logistics as it should.

Might just be a game log display script error:

This happened to me in game #248884799, move #132.

I used Logistics to do role first, and game log said I skipped my action ... but then the interface allowed me to take an action after the role had been resolved.

I had logistics. During my end of game bonus turn, I wanted to survey for a planet and then use terraforming to colonize it. Earlier in the game, playing my role first worked fine. But this time it skipped my action and the game immediately ended after my role.

This happened to me at the end of the game as well. I surveyed to get a planet when I had enough fighters to attack it as an action at the end of the game, and the interface didn't allow me to attack the planet.
